In
Acts next semester I will be assigning Beverly Roberts Gaventa's
Acts
commentary (Abingdon, 2003) and, for lack of a more recent good succinct introduction to critical issues, Mark Allan Powell's
What Are They Saying About Acts?
(Paulist, 1991).
I would like also to assign a short, accessible (to upper level undergraduates), article-length, introduction to the first century Roman world to provide more historical context. Any suggestions?
